Simon Jones is a Central Florida Based Trombonist and Educator with a Background in Jazz, Blues, Funk, Gospel, and Commercial Music.

He Received a bachelor's in music education from the University of North Florida in the spring of 2023 where he spent his undergraduate years under the tutelage of Master Trombonist, Dave Steinmeyer, or "Stumpy". Steinmeyer was the former lead trombonist and band leader for the U.S.A.F. "Airmen of Note" for 24 years.

More Recently, in the Spring of 2025, Simon graduated from The University of Central Florida with his Master's in music and arts. While at UCF, he engaged in the orchestral tradition under the direction of Dr. Luis Fred, a renown orchestral trombonist and educator who has received many accolades throughout his tenure including appearances with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Simon's time studying with Dr. Fred at UCF resulted in the publication of a thesis covering fundamental trombone technique and how to best reinforce it within the band classroom.  

As a working trombonist in the Orlando area, Simon has had the opportunity to perform with the Sam Rivers Orchestra, Florida Man Big Band, Orlando Jazz Orchestra, Maitland Stage Band, Landau Murphy Jr., Glenn Miller Orchestra and Regularly works as a sideman in productions at the various Theaters and Theme Parks throughout Orlando. On the weekends, Simon can be heard as part of the Caribbean House Band at the Ocean Deck, which was recently rated USA Today's 2025's best beach bar in U.S. 

Educationally, Simon has worked with multiple local high school band programs as a Brass/Jazz band tech and is currently on staff for Deltona High School in Volusia County. He also hosts an international trombone lessons studio in which he teaches his uniquely American style that blends 20th century American improvisatory technique and language with an orchestral approach rooted in the trombone practice traditions of the Paris Conservatory.  

Simon has also served as Co-founder and Creative Director at Unity Performing Arts, a Central FL based Non-profit that offers free Jazz Education courses to High School aged musicians.  The program started as a small group improvisation-based course but has recently grown to a full-size big band with full percussion section and vocalist that performs around the Orlando Area.
